Here is a set of regional infrastructure news to catch up with:

Wyyerd Fiber is on the move again, this time expanding into East County, San Diego. East County isn’t actually a county, it’s a part of San Diego County that depending on who you ask might include anything from a dozen or so communities to much of the eastern two thirds of the total county. So, more specifically, Wyyerd is building out last mile fiber in the city of El Cajon as it grows its footprint overall in the region.

123NET has added some muscle to its C-suite by promoting three from within.  Chuck Irvin will take on the role of Chief Resource Officer, James Kandler will become the Chief Information Officer, and Justin Lampman will take over as Chief Operating Officer.  123NET’s footprint in Michigan covers 3,100 route miles of longhaul and metro fiber and includes four data centers, a carrier hotel, and the Detroit Internet Exchange.

FirstLight Fiber has raised a bundle of cash for refinancing. The northeastern fiber infrastructure provider has lined up $120M from Sixth Street and Palistar Capital. The debt financing follows a 5 year senior secured financing package earlier this year and will go toward refinancing of the company’s existing debt. Backed by Antin Infrastructure Partners, FirstLight’s footprint now connects some 15K locations with 25,000 route miles of fiber and has been expanding its reach into multiple Pennsylvania markets.

Consolidated Communications’ Fidium Fiber continues to find new corners of northern New England to build into. This week they announced an expansion near Lake Sunapee, a glacial lake in the western part of the state. Fidium’s fiber services will be available to homes and businesses in Sunapee, Newbury, and New London.

And over in the UK, Pulse Fibre has tapped Adtran to help its FTTx expansion. They will be using Adtran’s 10Gbps XGS-PON technology to scale their solution to some 250K homes and beyond. Pulse is also looking to provide property developers with connectivity both during construction and for integration into new homes from the ground up.
