Four technology deployments by global operators to catch up with:
Sparkle has officially launched a new Network-as-a-Service suite with a bit of Quantum. They are now taking pre-orders for their Quantum Safe over Internet service, which they have recently tested in the context of an international VPN and across a metro fiber network in Athens. QSI capabilities are quite distinct from quantum computing, but are the first real nextgen capabilities to come out of the quantum realm.
NTT DATA has also been working on its security portfolio. They are teaming up with Palo Alto Networks for a new Managed Detection & Response service, leveraging Cortex XSIAM. The platform harneses AI and machine learning to simplify operations, stop threats, and accelerate incident remediation. The partnership expands upon an existing strategic relationship between NTT DATA and Palo Alto Networks.
Ribbon says it has completed a major DWDM deployment in southern Asia. Bharti Airtel is leveraging Ribbon’s Apollo 9600 gear for longhaul DWDM on its 30,000km network footprint as well as its Muse platform for automation. The infrastructure supports Airtel’s 5G mobile backhaul as well as high speed internet and provides them with 51.2Tbps of longhaul network capaicty with which to meet demands.
And RETN extended its global network reach with a new partnership in Taiwan. Chief Telecom, which operates the Taipei Internet Exchange among other things, will be leveraging RETN’s DDoS mitigation platform. Chief Telecom is looking to boost its ability to serve businesses in Taiwan as well as to advance Taiwan as a digital crossroads for east Asia.
