Four significant infrastructure moves we will have to keep an eye on from this week’s news:

Arcadian Infrastructure has kicked off the next phase of its California fiber footprint. They have broken ground on a route from San Jose to Eureka in Willits CA, which they are calling the Redwood Route. It’s all part of California’s Middle-Mile Broadband Initiative, within which Arcadian is working on 1,250 route miles.

1547 Critical Systems Realty made an inorganic move out in Hawaii this week. With backing from their partners at Harrison Street, 1547 has acquired AlohaNAP, a carrier hotel property on the island of O’ahu that 1547 first started developing back in 2013 with Hawaii Pacific Teleport. With Harrison Street now involved, they plan to expand the facility by building on the current parking lot and adjacent area to add 10,2300 square feet of space and 1.5MW of power, effectively doubling its size.

DataBank has lined up another $2B in funding via a new equity raise, three quarters of which came from AustralianSuper. The transaction, makes AustralianSuper a significant minority owner alongside DigitalBridge. Proceeds will be used to finance further growth, including on the 3 campuses announced this year in Dallas TX, Culpeper VA, and Atlanta GA.

And Uniti Group says that an award from a large hyperscaler will power an expansion in Montgomery Alabama. Uniti will be building out 90 route miles of conduit and high-fiber-count cable within the Montgomery metro area. The new rings will connect key data centers, existing metro infrastructure, and incoming longhaul routes. If all goes well it be built over the next year and a half, with completion expected in early 2026.
