The pan-European infrastructure provider euNetworks has built another intercity fiber route and added to its list of Super Highways. This time they have overbuilt Frankfurt to Paris, another of the core FLAP-D legs, with diverse, modern infrastructure.
The announcement follows this summer’s buildout of the Amsterdam-Frankfurt route. Already in place were Dublin-London and London-Amsterdam, each of which involved new subsea infrastructure as well. euNetworks operates deep metro fiber in all of the FLAP-D markets of course, and the new routes give them the first modern fiber build between them in decades.
euNetworks new Frankfurt-Paris route is 20% shorter than the traditional routes through Strasbourg and bypasses other highly traffic routes through the Rhine Valley. The target is growing DC-to-DC demand driven by investments in AI. Of course there is one more leg left to overbuild on the FLAP-D routes, which is probably in the works as well.
Meanwhile, euNetworks also offered an update on its leadership transition this week. Earlier this year, Paula Cogan stepped down as CEO and Kevin Dean came in as interim CEO. When a new CEO comes in, he will take on the role of Chairman as Brady Rafuse transitions out following the successful recapitalization and refinancing over the summer.
