Wednesday Bytes: Arelion, Logix, GTT

Three network investment projects from Texas and Mexico to catch up with:

Arelion has officially launched a new DWDM route down in Mexico. The new route connects Monterrey to Querétaro, which has emerged as Mexico’s essential data center hub. From there Arelion’s network offers loops to Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Merida. The company has been investing in connectivity throughout the country as well as in cross-border connectivity to Laredo and McAllen.

Logix Fiber Networks has expanded its network within Texas, adding connectivity to multiple data center facilities. The expansion includes Switch and Sabey facilities in Round Rock as well as Skybox in Pflugerville. Logix is looking to target demand from hyperscalers and AI applications, and will offer nto just 100Gbps and 400Gbs links but also dark fiber. The company’s regional footprint now reaches 80 third-party data centers.

And GTT has extended its IP backbone down on the US-Mexico border. They have deployed a new point of presence in Laredo TX, specifically in MDC’s Laredo data center. GTT and MDC were already working together in nearby McAllen, giving GTT more options in serving customers with cross-border data needs.
