Wednesday Roundup: Zayo, Padtec, InfoRR, HudsonIX, Arcadian Infracom

Three middle mile and longhaul expansions plus some new data center space in Manhattan:

Zayo will be building some more fiber down in Texas. They have won a $27.8M award from ARPA for middle mile infrastructure in Dallas County. The project will reach some 24K households currently without home internet access by building or upgrading 60 route miles of infrastructure. They are also partnering with the nonprofit Compudopt to distribute some 300 laptops to students in the region.

Padtec says its gear will help with the buildout of some new infrastructure to Manaus in Amazonas state. InfoRR and 4WNet will be using Padtec’s DWDM system as they expand from Boa Vista in the northern state of Roraima, through six other markets down to Manaus on the Amazon river. Roraima borders on Venezuela and Guana, and is a long, long way from the more familiar Brazilian infrastructure market in Sao Paolo.

Hudson IX has announced a significant expansion in New York City. Located in the iconic building 60 Hudson Street, they will be adding 2 new data halls with 2MW of capacity. Hudson IX has a direct feed from ConEd and a footprint of 173,000 square feet of space. The expansion should be complete about this time next year, enabling the support of high density racks with an eye on AI-related demand.

And Arcadian Infracom has broken ground on a new longhaul project out west. The project, which is part of California’s Middle-Mile Broadband Initiative, will connect San Jose with Reno, passing through Sacramento. Arcadian is also working on routes from LA to Phoenix, SF to Eureka, and Barstow to Las Vegas. That should keep them pretty busy for a while.
