Thursday Roundup: RETN, BDx, NetIX, Neterra, Ciena, Micrologic

Three global expansion projects and one domestic FTTx buildout:

RETN is expanding into the Middle East for the first time. The Eurasian network operator has added a PoP in Dubai, moving into Equinix DX1. Along with the new PoP come connections from Dubai to Istanbul via a terrestrial route and Marseille via a subsea route. Might a presence in India be next?

Neterra and its subsidiary NetIX have announced expansions in both South America and Europe. They have added a new internet exchange point in the Brazilian market of Fortaleza. In the Netherlands they have upgraded their presence in the Nikhef data center in Amsterdam, adding a new router and switches in response to customer demand.

BDx Indonesia has completed the first phase of its CGK4 campus in Jatiluhur, Indonesia. When complete, the AI-focused campus will be scalable to 500MW with a power density of 120KW per rack. BDx Indonesia is JV between BDx and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Lintasarta.

And back in the US, Ciena has picked up some business out in West Virginia. The regional service provider Micrologic will be using Ciena’s optical and PON broadband solutions to roll out connectivity in rural Randolph County and its largest municipality Elkins. Backed by grant funds from WVBIP and Citizens Bank of West Virginia, they are looking to hook up some 4,000 unserved locations in the county of population just 27K.
