One network upgrade and three data center expansion projects: Telxius has tapped Juniper Networks for an upgrade of its network infrastructure. They are moving up to 400G at both the core and the edge, migrating key bits to Juniper’s CORA and PTX Series Packet Transport Routers. That will leverage IPoDWDM to simplify their network architecture. Telxius’ footprint spans some 100,000+km of fiber.
AtlasEdge has unveiled plans for a second data center in Barcelona. They have lined up 18,000 square meters about 6km from their existing facility and close to the nearby cable landing station. The facility will deliver 10MW of capacity by 2027, with the potential for expansion to 24MW. It’s their second expansion project on the Iberian peninsula, having kicked off a project in Portugal a few months ago.
Crusoe Energy Systems will be building a massive new data center near Abilene TX. They will be working with Lancium on an AI-focused data center at the Lancium Clean Campus. The 200MW envisioned is just the first phase of a project that foresees 1.2GW of power capacity on the campus. They plan to draw on local renewable energy sources.
And EdgeCore has revealed some big plans in Culpeper, Virginia. They have purchased 120 acres of land, upon which they will be developing a 1.4M square foot data center campus. Initially the campus will support 216MW of critical IT load, with the potential to double that. They plant o use a close-looped air-cooled system to keep water usage down. Culpeper will be EdgeCore’s 5th market, and its 2nd in Virginia seeing as they are already in Ashburn just to the northeast.
