The quantum future gets a little closer, some interconnection across the straits of Taiwan, and a network upgrade in Europe.
IQM Quantum Computing has announced the opening of their first ‘quantum data center’ in Germany. Located in the Bavarian capital of Munich, the facility holds two of IQM’s quantum computers, with as many as 12 planned. It will support IQM’s recently announced cloud offering and facilitate further technological development both at IQM and within its ecosystem.
AMS-IX has lined up a new partner in Taiwan. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chief Telecom and HGC Global Communications to connect AMS-IX Hong Kong with Taipei Internet Exchange (TPIX). TIPX members will be able to extend their networks via HGC and Hong Kong and to reach other AMS-IX exchanges around APAC and across the Pacific to the US, while AMS-IX members will gain reach into Taiwan’s marketplace.
And Ciena will be helping TDC NET with a major upgrade. The Danish service provider will be deploying a modern OTN network based on Ciena’s packet optical and WaveLogic 5 technologies. The upgrade will enable TDC to offer 800Gbps to customers and to bring new capabilities to market while lowering power consumption.
