Five bits of metro and FTTx news from around the country:

Bandwidth IG is building out some more fiber in the Atlanta metro area. They have partnered with Flexential to bring new dark fiber into Flexential’s Atlanta-Douglasville data center campus. That’s about 20 miles west of downtown, and will give Bandwidth IG some 170 route miles across Douglas, Fayette, Rockdale, and Newton counties.

LiveOak Fiber says that its own buildout in Georgia has reached the halfway mark. They have now built out 1,000 miles of fiber in the counties of Glynn, Camden, and Chatham. They are also expanding onto Tybee Island and into Savannah’s Bacon Park neighborhood.

Bluegrass Network has deployed an 800Gbps ring in central Kentucky. Leveraging a coherent optical solution from Ciena, the middle mile network spans 400 route miles to the south of Louisville and Frankfurt. Ciena is supplying its WaveLogic 5 Extreme and 6500 ROADM as well as related software and services.

Gateway Fiber has tapped the credit markets for a bundle of new cash. They have raised $175.5M in the form of a senior secured debt facility. The funds will go toward the company’s expansion projects in Missouri, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. Texas Capital led th effort with some help from Hancock Whitney Bank, JPMorgan Chase Bank, Sunflower Bank, and Third Coast Bank. Gateway is backed by CBRE Investment Management.

And Ritter is continuing to roll out fiber down in Arkansas. The $5.3M project will bring 5G to the towns of Beebe, Kensett, and Jusonia, which sit alongside US highway 167 heading northeast from Little Rock. If all goes well Ritter’s RightFiber solution should be lighting up customers later this summer.
