A few items of regional focus to catch up with:

123NET has lined up a new public-private partnership up in Michigan. They will be constructing 380 route miles of fiber in Ottawa County, bringing big bandwidth to 4,000 underserved residents. It’s a $25M project into which 123NET will put $3.5M of its own resources. Ottawa sits along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, just west of Grand Rapids. They are already doing something similar in Allegan county to the south.

Wyyerd is boosting its FTTH capabilities again. They have launched 5Gbps symmetrical services across their existing footprint, moving on up from the 2Gbps they started providing in 2022. Wyyerd is actively building out in the greater Phoenix and greater San Diego metros, offering significant connectivity options to both the residential and business markets.

Great Plains Communications has promoted from within, appointing industry veteran Joseph Pellegrini to be their new President and COO. Joe joined GPC a year and a half ago, moving over from a similar role at Everstream. GPC’s footprint now stretches 18,000 route miles and touches 13 states.

Speaking of Everstream alumni, Brett Lindsay now has a new gig. He’ll be taking the helm at Involta, which has been busy of late expanding its data center footprint in Tucson AZ, Boise ID, and most recently Green Bay WI. Involta is backed by Carlyle, and is looking to accelerate its growth plans.

The London Internet Exchange has launched a new capability in northern Virginia. They have expanded their Microsoft partnership to LINX NoVA, introducing the Microsoft Azure Peering Service to their portfolio. MAPS enables direct connectivity to a wide array of Microsoft cloud services, and is something LINX had already deployed in London and Manchester.
