A bit of data center M&A, a new secure device option, an FTTH upgrade, and a new data center campus:
Tonaquint Data Centers has expanded its range to Oklahoma with a bit of M&A, moving beyond its Idaho and Utah territory. They have acquired EdgeX Data Centers, which operates a 65,000 square foot facility in Oklahoma City, bringing EdgeX Co-Founder Terry Morrison on as their own new COO and CTO. Tonaquint plans to commission 2.5MW of critical IT load on the site over the next year.
MetTel is looking to meet the security needs of its enterprise and government customers from a new direction. They will be introducing the Sotera SecurePhone to their portfolio, a mobile device used by the US nuclear arsenal, NASA, and commercial airlines to ensure mission critical communications. That capability will probably bring a new set of of potential contracts into MetTel’s range.
FastWyre Boradband is upgrading its FTTH footprint in the Nebraska town of Bellevue. They moved into the suburb of Omaha earlier this year, and will now be doubling available speeds to 2Gbps with a path to 5Gbps by next spring. FastWyre’s footprint now reaches Alabama, Alaska, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska and Texas.
And Novva Data Centers is taking aim at the SF Bay Area. They have acquired 7.5 acres in South San Francisco with several existing buildings. Plans call for a $500M investment to build out 128,000 square feet on two floors and 28MW of critical load, with the first 9MW of that ready in the summer of 2026. The SF location will complement Novva’s existing locations in Utah, Colorado, Reno, and Las Vegas.
