Multiple interesting partnerships from around the world to catch up on:
RETN has expanded its footprint in southern Europe, specifically between Milan, Italy and Marseille, France. They are leveraging a significant chunk of capacity via spectrum-based transport from the Italian provider Retelit. The deal enables RETN to tap into future capacity upgrades.
Yet more activity was announced over in Sines, Portugal yesterday. Start Campus is working with EllaLink and aicep Global Parques (affiliated with the Portuguese government) to create the ‘Atlantic Hub’. Basically this entails a favorable regulatory environment for landing subsea cables, a ‘Cable Protection zone’, and multiple fronthaul options connecting cable landing stations, data centers, and other key locations.
Console Connect has a new global cloud partner on board with its NaaS platform. Europe-based OVHcloud will use Console Connect’s layer 2/3 connectivity to facilitate hybrid and multi-cloud adoption scenarios. OVHcloud is expanding globally, most recently by adding a location in Mumbai. They are preparing 15 new data center locations by 2024, including destinations in Sydney and Singapore in the APAC region.
Digital Realty Trust has a new tenant at its AMS9 location in Amsterdam. Globalnet says it will be putting in a new PoP in the facility, something it has already done at DRT facilities FRA15 in Frankfurt and STO1 in Stockholm. GlobalNet’s footprint spans 66 PoPs across Europe and Asia.
