A new campus, some 400G, a purchasing vehicle win, and a subsea rollout:
Aligned Data Centers is preparing to expand its footprint with a large new hyperscale presence in Ohio. They have acquired 129 acres in Perkins Township, upon which they plan to build a data center campus. It’s a brownfield build on top of a former automotive plant, and the first facility Aligned builds upon it will be NEO-01, the first of four.
Zayo says its 400G upgrade project in Europe is now complete, enabling them to sell 400G waves across their footprint there. Meanwhile its rollout across North America, where the company has the majority of its assets, is scheduled to be done by the end of 2024. Zayo has bee leveraging Ciena’s WaveLogic 5 Extreme for its 400G upgrade, with a path forward to 800G as well.
Spectrum Enterprise has won a multi-year deal with the Michigan Collegiate Telecommunications Association (MiCTA). MiCTA enables its member institutions to purchase technology as a group, and the deal will make a wide range of Spectrum Enterprise’s solutions available at pre-negotiated pricing.
And Infinera has wone some APAC subsea business. The Asia Direct Cable Consortium will be using Infinera’s ICE6 800G gear and supporting technology to power its new ADC system. ADC connects China, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, and Infinera’s gear will enable it to provide 21Tbps per fiber pair. ADC is expected to be fully ready for service by the end of 2023.
