Lumen Dives Into NaaS

August 1st, 2023 by · Leave a Comment

Lumen has finally made its move into the Network-as-a-Service space with a new flagship platform. The fiber and data infrastructure giant’s is starting off with Internet on-Demand, enabling scalable dedicated capacity via a digital portal or via an API and with consumption-based billing.

Lumen’s Internet on-Demand will scale from 100Mbps up to 10Gbps, with provisioning possible within minutes. Next on the menu will be other NaaS offerings. Security services like DDoS and SASE and Edge infrastructure services will be early targets on that front.

They are also lining up partners from around the sector to help take their NaaS to market. First on that front is none other than Digital Realty, which will integrate its own ServiceFabric platform with Lumen’s NaaS platform.

With it extensive fiber footprint, Lumen’s NaaS offering has more potential diversity available to it than pretty much anyone within North America. But they will of course have competition from a variety of next generation network operators.
