What’s better than one new route to Portugal? Two, at least for EXA this winter. The pan-European network operator announced this morning plans to invest in a second route across the Iberian peninsula to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.
The news follows on the heels of last month’s move by WIOCC to leverage EXA’s infrastructure to better get between African and European markets. WIOCC has pieces of Google’s Equiano and Meta’s 2Africa cable projects, and plans to become Africa’s leading carrier’s carrier.
EXA had already previously announced a new transport route to Lisbon in October. Clearly EXA sees opportunity in southern Europe at the moment. With the necessary infrastructure in place between Spain and Portugal, they will have more on-ramps to the rest of their fiber footprint throughout the rest of Europe.
