Three bits of fiber news to end the week with:
WIOCC Group has had a busy week in the news, and is finishing it off with a deal with EXA Infrastructure. EXA will be providing WIOCC with terrestrial transport from its cable landings in Portugal back to the rest of Europe. WIOCC has stakes in both Equiano and 2Africa, as well as multiple existing cables, and is working to boost transport options to African markets..
LOGIX Fiber Networks will be adding another key data center to its footprint. They have announced an agreement with Switch to build fiber into the latter’s data center at the Dell Headquarters in Round Rock. That facility will open in mid 2024, so there is some time yet. OnPoint Utility Design and Construction will be helping with the buildout.
And Harbor Link has kicked off a new fiber and duct project in the DC metro area. They have begun construction on a new fiber build connecting Alexandria to Ashburn. They have a license agreement with Alexandria for an ‘eight-way fiber infrastructure. Earlier this year they kicked off a 60-mile build along I-95 and MD Rt 97, and this new project will complement that infrastructure.
