Four expansion projects, two in the data center space and two of the network buildout variety:
1623 Farnam has a key new interconnection option available out in Nebraska. PacketFabric has launched its multi-cloud connectivity at 1623 Farnam’s facility in Omaha, enhancing the company’s ability to reach customers in this important Midwestern ecosystem. The data center operator has seen some significant network activity since the start of the year, with expansions from a major hyperscaler, from Akamai, and from Arelion.
CoreSite is officially moving into two new southern markets. As part of its integration into American Tower’s ecosystem, the data center and IT solutions operator has integrated the latter’s three facilities in Atlanta GA and one in Orlando FL and made its Open Cloud Exchange platform available at each. That adds 250,000 square feet of space into their portfolio, putting them in 10 markets with 27 facilities now.
Bluebird Network continues to build out its regional fiber network, extending its reach further into adjacent territory. The latest expansion project to go live connects northward up to Waterloo, Iowa. Meanwhile, construction is underway on a connection west to Salina, Kansas with completion anticipated later this month. Bluebird plans to connect 5 more communities over in Illinois by the end of this year as well.
And Vantage Data Centers has a new partner lined up to power its expansion into South Africa, literally. They have entered into a 20-year power purchase agreement with SolarAfrica, supplementing their connection to the local grid at their new JNB1 campus in Johannesburg. Vantage’s plans call for 80MW of IT capacity at the campus across three facilities at completion, a third of the energy for which is expected to come from the solar farm.
