Lumen Technologies revealed today that it has picked up a rather major federal contract. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently awarded the company a $1.2B task order aimed at modernizing the agency’s IT services both in the US and beyond.
Lumen will be providing integrated transport, remote access, contact center, cloud connectivity, and other solutions to the USDA, helping connect 9,500 agency locations. The USDA has some 100,000 employees managing various farming, food and nutrition, forestry, and rural economic development services. The data they acquire and process is increasingly out at the edge, just as with everything else these days.
It’s an 11-year deal, which like many federal contracts is a 1 year deal with 10 extensions. The task order was awarded under the GSA EIS program.
