Icy weather notwithstanding, Dark Fiber and Infrastructure has been busy this winter. The mid-Atlantic fiber builder and operator said late last week that it has finished off its buildout between Virginia and Maryland and is expanding its expansion further south.
DF&I completed its 65-route-mile build between Ashburn, VA and Linthicum Heights, MD, taking advantage of that unique Potomac River crossing they put in place not too long ago north of Ashburn. The new infrastructure offers diverse options for connectivity to the data center metropolis that is northern Virginia.
Meanwhile, DF&I is shifting its focus to a new conduit and fiber route south from Ashburn to Manassas, Chantilly, Arcola, and Haymarket. They have started construction of the link to Arcola, with engineering and permitting done for several phases beyond that along the 88-mile ring.
