Cologix has made an inorganic move that will take it into northern California for the first time. The data center and interconnection operator has announced a definitive agreement to acquire vXchnge’s data center campus in Silicon Valley.
vXchnge’s CA-01 facility consists of an 84,000 square foot cloug gateway facility on about five acres of land at 2050 Martin Ave in Santa Clara. It currently has 9MW of power with another 10MW available to expand into, tapping into the lower cost power available from Silicon Valley Power relative to the utility serving surrounding markets.
The deal gives Cologix a running start as it enters into one of the busiest US data center markets with an established interconnection hub. In particular it gives them close proximity to major players in the cloud and AI space as well as dense fiber access throughout the region.
Cologix is funding the deal through a combination of equity from Mubadala and an increase to the company’s existing debt facilities. Financial terms were not disclosed.
