We had a bit of interesting consolidation hit the news in the edge data center space today. DartPoints has announced an agreement to acquire Immedion, giving it a data center presence and boots on the ground in seven new edge markets.
Immedion operates data center assets in the metro areas of Indianapolis IN, Cincinnati OH, Ashville NC, and Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia, and Charleston SC. From those locations they offer a variety of cloud and managed IT services to the enterprise marketplace.
Those will complement DartPoints existing presence in Dallas/Fort Worth, North Liberty IA, and Dublin OH, adding depth in the Midwest while entering the Carolinas in force. That Dublin data center outside of Columbus OH came in the similar recent acquisition of Metro Data Centers in October, and both deals follow from last year’s sale of a majority stake to Astra Capital Management.
We had DartPoints CEO Scott Willis here for an Industry Spotlight in December, where he provided insights into the company’s M&A strategy — which this falls right into.
Bank Street Group advised Immedion on the transaction, which is expected to close next quarter.
