Four interesting bits of news worth catching up on at midweek:
Comcast Business has picked up another sporting venue customer. The Colorado Springs Switchbacks, a soccer team in the USL, have selected Comcast Business to provide Wi-Fi, Ethernet, managed router, and business voice services to their new stadium. Widener field cost some $45M to build, and can host 8K fans or 15k concert goers, and will feature all the latest digital bells and whistles for fans.
NJFX has some additional connectivity to its cable landing station facility down in Wall NJ. Zayo has completed two new underground fiber connections to the campus, adding both capacity and diversity. NJFX is home to the endpoints of four subsea cables: TGN1, TGN2, Seabras, and Havfrue/AEC-2, and has quickly become a key hub for international connectivity on the east coast.
Hylan is adding yet more muscle to its executive team. The engineering and construction specialist has brought in Joe Cooney as President of Hylan Datacom and Electrical and Leon Markham as VP of Business Development for the western US. Meanwhile, outgoing HDE President has transitioned to Vice Chairman of Hylan’s BoD. Hylan is looking to continue to expand its influence nationwide.
Lumen is expanding its edge computing services portfolio. They have added online procurement for Lumen Edge Bare Metal Services and have added Network Storage to the mix. Lumen’s Bare Metal services now reach 60% of the population with 5ms latency, with a target of 95% for later this year and expansion into global markets.
And HGC is taking its new Eyeball-as-a-Service into the bustling southeast Asian market of Singapore with reach to nearly 100% of the population. After finding success for the one-stop OTT solution for last mile connectivity, low latency, and peering in Hong Kong, HGC is looking to spread the offering throughout the region to markets holding some 400M population.
