There was a bit of consolidation in the data center sector today out in the Midwest. DartPoints has announced the acquisition of Metro Data Centers.
Metro Data Centers operates a single 40,000-square-foot facility in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb to the northwest of Columbus. That will fit in well with DartPoints’ edge colocation strategy overall. Over the summer, DartPoints rolled out an Iowa edge facility and teamed up with LOGIX for interconnection down in Texas.
The funding likely came from the company’s sale of a majority stake to Astra Capital Management back in May of this year. DartPoints is one of an expanding new generation of data center players focused on the edge opportunities out there.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
