Some fiber at the edge, and a few SDN/NFV-related announcements to keep an eye on:
LOGIX is teaming up with DartPoints to reach out to an even bigger slice of Texas. They are bringing their fiber network and layer 2 connectivity into DartPoint’s edge facilities around the state. It’s a logical pairing of deep regional fiber with carrier-neutral colo at the regional edge, perhaps even logical enough to envision combining some today.
Apstra announced yesterday unveiled the next iteration of its intent based networking technology. Their AOS platform has now been integrated with Juniper Networks and SONiC. Also in the update are a variety of open-networking enhancements aimed at enhancing network deployment and operation.
Telco Systems has teamed up with Clavister to pick up a deal over in East Africa. The Kenyan MSP AdcareIT has leveraged technology from the two to deploy managed secure SD-WAN services. The solution leverages Clavister’s connectivity and cybersecurity VNFs running on Telco System’s NFVTime uCPE gear on an Arm architecture. AdcareIT provide outsourced technology services to the enterprise marketplace in Kenya.
And Megaport is preparing to add a new tool to its toolbox. The NaaS provider has unveiled a Virtual Edge platform. The idea is to enable the hosting of NFV capabilities, such as SD-WAN, directly on Megaport’s SDN-powered infrastructure. They are prepping Cisco’s SD-WAN as the first use case.
