That there are actually coronavirus conspiracy theories out there that are being taken seriously by way too many isn’t really news. But that one of them involves telecommunications, meaning that we caused it, well that got my attention yesterday.
Apparently, over in the UK there are people setting cell towers on fire. Why? Because apparently 5G causes coronavirus. You see some token bit of 5G was rolled out in Wuhan this past winter, and that means… well it means nothing. But why let that stop anything?
I tried to comprehend the reasoning, but I lost a frightening amount of brain cells in just a few minutes and had to stop. As crazy as it is, these are crazy times and I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. UK mobile carriers are politely asking people to stop doing this, because as well all know being reasonable always stops conspiracy theories.
Hopefully the idea won’t catch on elsewhere. Please, nobody tell you-know-who about it…

despite all of the information available for free online, critical thinking is lacking in many many people
A lot of that free, online information does not exactly cater to logic and reason….
The problem is, for every conspiracy theory there are websites and YouTube videos to support it. These crackpot conspiracy theorists usually aren’t very computer literate, so they believe that if it’s on the internet, it must be true. I have a friend from Ohio that is absolutely crazy, and he calls himself the only critical thinker of all his friends. I’ve told him he is just embarrassingly gullible.
The outbreak of the virus seems to promote the 5G network process.
