A few quick takes from midweek: one new IX opportunity, two new data center tenants, and a UC deployment:
DE-CIX is taking on some new territory that couldn’t be much further from its home turf in Frankfurt. The IX specialist is entering South East Asia by partnering with Malaysia’s JBIX. The two will operate IXs in the Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru regions, with additional locations to come over time. The new IXs will run DE-CIX’s Apollon platform and will be run by a new JV named DE-CIX Malaysia.
Interxion has a new tenant at its data center in Madrid. The IaaS provider Voxility is expanding into Spain with a new PoP. From there they will be able to more directly access local Spanish networks as well as establish a gateway to both North Africa and South America. Interxion of course recently agreed to combine with Digital Realty.
eStruxture Data Centers also has a new tenant this week. The locally-based SaaS provider VEERUM is moving into eStruxture’s facility in Calgary, Alberta. eStructure just bought this facility from Shaw in August. VEERUM specializes in asset visualization and management, offering cloud-based virtual 3d models for its customers.
And the engineering and construction firm Hylan has a new Unified Communications solutions of its own. With the help of the consulting firm OneConnect, they have deployed a RingCentral’s UC technology in support of the company’s growing national footprint. Hylan grew substantially last year via several acquisitions, and the new UC system will help them put their own data and voice infrastructure under one umbrella.
