Three bits of colo expansion news, each at a different stage of the process:
Cologix has put some money to work up in eastern Canada. The interconnection and data center company has completed an expansion in downtown Montreal at MTL7, adding 2.5MW of power. That gives them 3.1MW on 26K square feet at that facility, and 100MW across all the company’s Montreal footprint.
Aligned Energy has broken ground on an expansion of its own out in Utah. They are building a second facility in the Salt Lake City metro area, adjacent to its existing location in West Jordan. At full buildout, Aligned Energy’s footprint in the city will span some 780K square feet of space and 130MW of capacity. With a new anchor customer in tow, they expect to open the new space in Q1 of 2020.
And over in the UK, Stellium Datacentres has raised a bundle of money for expansion. Tiger Infrastructure Partners and Eram Capital Advisors had invested £30M in the company, which operates a three-data-center campus and a 40km metro ring up in Newcastle upon Tyne. The location up in northeastern England not far from the Scottish border was recently named as a hub for Aqua Comms’ North Atlantic Loop.
