Agile Partners with Lincoln Rackhouse for a Piece of Bytegrid

July 23rd, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

In a bit of follow-on data center M&A news, Agile Data Sites today announced a partnership with Lincoln Rackhouse. Lincoln Rackhouse just acquired ByteGrid back in May, adding data centers in the Seattle, Chicago, and DC metro areas to its portfolio. Agile is taking on some of that space and the customers within it.

The deal will see Agile lease 3MW of data center space in Silver Spring MD, where they had a presence already, and Aurora IL, which is a new market to them. Agile’s other markets include Allentown and King of Prussia in Pennsylvania. The company has been looking for expansion opportunities since bringing in Jim Weller as new CEO at the start of this year.

When it bought Bytegrid’s assets, Lincoln Rackhouse quickly split the real estate from the colo and managed services as it moved to stay neutral on the real estate side of the data center business. This transaction clearly furthers that effort, and reflects the company’s method of expanding its footprint without complicating its business model.

There may yet be other pieces of Bytegrid that Lincoln Rackhouse is looking to sell off, given that Agile Data Sites isn’t moving into Seattle too.
