Four items to keep an eye on:
Equinix has expanded its interconnection fabric once again. They are now offering ECX Fabric connectivity between all 37 of the service’s markets across five continents. Customers in any of those locations can privately interconnect networks, clouds, and services on a global basis.
The French are putting together some better security capabilities. Orange Cyberdefense and Gatewatcher, both accredited by ANSSI, the French National Cybersecurity Agency, are teaming up. Orange Cyberdefense is integrating Gatewatcher’s Trackwatch probes into its monitoring services across its 10 security operations centers globally, enabling advanced intrusion detection capabilities.
Calix has won a new convert out in California. Cruzio is deploying the company’s AXOS platform as it expands its fiber network to reach new residential and business subscribers. Cruzio serves Santa Cruz county, currently connecting some 9,000 customers, supporting about 2000 local businesses as well as a few dozen wifi hotspots.
And earlier this week Windstream announced an enhancement to its Carrier Ethernet capabilities. They are deploying Ciena’s 5170 Service Aggregation platform to support the launch of 100GbE services, complementing their current infrastructure. The Ciena gear’s smaller footprint and power efficiency will enable Windstream to upgrade bandwidth and services while keeping capex down.
