Some data center and interconnection news at midweek:
Cologix has tapped Ciena’s Blue Planet SDN technology to boost its ecosystem. They have launched a new SDN-powered connectivity platform, called Cologix Access Marketplace, which offers real-time cloud on-ramps. Initially those on-ramps will be to Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure, with other clouds to come later.
Sabey Data Centers has won some new colo business this week. Packet will be expanding its footprint into Sabey’s Ashburn and Seattle facilities, and plans to be operational next week. Packet specializes in bare metal cloud and automation, and has been working with Sabey in other markets for a while now.
And DataBank has broken ground on a new data center out in the Salt Lake City, Utah metro area. The new SLC5 facility will complement their other four facilities in the city, which they entered by acquiring C7 two years ago. SLC5 will be on the existing Granite Point campus in Bluffdale have 90,000 total square feet of space, with five 10K square foot data halls.
