Hurricane Electric Taps EdgeConneX for Expansion

February 20th, 2019 by · Leave a Comment

Hurricane Electric unveiled a new network expansion yesterday across a broad North American front. The international backbone operator has tapped EdgeConneX to get it closer to, you guessed it, the edge.

HE is deploying additional points of presence in nine US markets and one Canadian market. That means space in EdgeConneX’s facilities in Santa Clara, Seattle, Atlanta, Toronto, Nashville, Detroit, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas.

Adding new depth to its network is something HE has done steadily over the years, both domestic and international. But usually those expansions have been one or two at a time to add new market destinations and interconnection options.

In this case they are already in all of these markets, but EdgeConneX’s efforts to build out interconnection options at the edge has attracted their attention.  EdgeConnex’s facilities have been strategically placed to facilitate interconnection between content and eyeball networks.
