With the Interoute integration well underway, GTT apparently needed some more action to fill up its autumn season. Yesterday they announced another deal, acquiring Access Point.
Access Point is a service provider based out of Cary, North Carolina that targets the enterprise market. They offer the usual range of services from telephony, IP, Ethernet and on up, but specialize in a range of managed services and especially VoIP/UC via a BroadSoft-based platform. They have also been making a move into SD-WAN, leveraging technology from VeloCloud.
None of that will be particularly new to GTT of course, which mainly gains a broader enterprise customer portfolio, a deeper indirect channel, and of course some new talent out of the deal. The price tag was $40M, of which $35M was cash and the remainder stock. The company expects a rapid integration.
