123Net has a new fiber partner to the northeast of Detroit. They are teaming up with St. Clair County RESA, which built out 200 route miles of fiber a couple decades ago to hook up its seven K-12 public schools and is looking to make better use of that asset.
St. Clair County lies along the St. Clair river on the Canadian border between Lake Huron and Lake Erie. 123Net is in the process of building two 10Gbps virtual pipes between the RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency) and its data center in Southfield and a new backbone along the St. Clair River.
The partnership gives 123Net access to that network footprint for expansion into the county. It also boosts connectivity options for St. Clair County RESA, giving them direct access to DET-IX among other things.
123Net has been actively building out its network and data center footprint throughout Michigan in recent years.
