September 19th, 2018 by · Leave a Comment

Several interesting items from the international scene:

Sparkle has added a couple new PoPs to its global IP backbone in southeast Asia. With the help of CMC Telecom, they now have a presence in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. And they now have an additional node in the hub of Singapore at the Global Switch facility, complementing their presence at Singapore Equinix.

GlobeNet has opened a new interconnection point in Fortaleza, Brazil. The new IXP, which was developed in partnership with NIC.br, is aimed at enabling network operator to exchange traffic locally in the northeastern port city. Of course, Fortaleza is home to the landing stations of a growing number of submarine cable systems, and its importance as a hub for interconnection is growing. GlobeNet also recently announced its new Malbec cable system to Argentina.

And Verizon has won a global deal with the software and cloud applications provider SAP. They will be building SAP’s nextgen global network, streamlining the company’s existing infrastructure and its management with SDN and other modern technologies. In the past, Verizon was one of several providers for SAP’s infrastructure.
