The pan-African fiber operator Liquid Telecommunications has moved to consolidate its position in the country of Zambia. According to Capacity, Liquid has agreed to acquire Hai Telecommunications.
Liquid already owned 50% of Hai through a partnership with Copperbelt Energy Corporation. Hai operates a fiber network in and across Zambia that includes two international connections over to neighboring Zimbabwe. They serve a combination of consumer, SME, and enterprise customers with bandwidth and other infrastructure services.
Apparently the deal is awaiting approval from regulators in Zimbabwe and is expected to close during the third quarter. When it does, Liquid will have full ownership of the Zambian leg of its pan-African network footprint.
