Windstream is making progress toward making its fiber network a fully national proposition. Earlier today the company’s Wholesale division announced an expansion along a new southern intercity route.
The new route will connect Los Angeles to Dallas by taking the southern route. It will add another 1,700 route miles to the company’s network and connect the company’s existing Phoenix metro network to the rest of the company’s fiber and thus give a boost to Windstream’s presence in this key southwestern bandwidth market. If all goes well, the expansion should be in place by the end of the third quarter of 2018.
Windstream previously added a route between Denver and Silicon Valley just over a year ago, and extended that footprint south to Las Vegas and Los Angeles as well. This new expansion will complete the loop. The final step would seem to be a loop up to the Pacific Northwest at some point.
