This week Jaymie Scotto & Associates has launched a new initiative aimed at correcting one of the imbalances that has long been apparent in telecom and technology. When one attends conferences and other events in the space, whether physically or virtually, there are very few women behind the microphone.
Drawing on its own deep experience running events and helping companies in the space put their best foot forward in public, JSA has launched the Women’s Speaking Initiative. Women can put themselves forward as potential speakers, uploading their qualifications and preferred speaking roles, from which the industry’s event organizers may then draw as they assemble their panels and such.
Telecom Ramblings is not immune to the phenomenon that WSI is addressing. One only has to take a look through our Industry Spotlight and Industry Viewpoint series to notice just how few of the sector’s women professionals I’ve managed to interview or otherwise feature on this site. So please count me in, JSA, as a potential destination those who sign up for WSI!
If you haven't already, please take our Reader Survey! Just 3 questions to help us better understand who is reading Telecom Ramblings so we can serve you better!

When I was at University doing Electronic Engineering there were 10 woman in a class of 110. I did wish there were more women in the class.
Thanks Rob for this article and we will for sure send you the roster of women’s speakers once collected. And Stew, yes getting more women interested and excelling in STEM education is a big step forward. Together we can move the needle here. Thank you for your support.
