vXchnge has added another edge market to its portfolio this week. Yesterday they announced the purchase of a data center in the Texan capital of Austin.
The purchase includes both an existing 104,000 square foot data center and the 18-acre campus it sits on, and has the capacity to grow to 26MW of power. According to vXchnge, the site is undergoing a doubling of its current capacity, although they didn’t say whether the 104K square feet reflects that expansion already or not.
The location is at 8025 N. Interstate Hwy 35. vXchnge didn’t say who they were buying the site from, however Digital Realty seems to have bought the site back in 2012 and it seems to be on their books as of their 10-K filing this year.
The deal comes one month after vXchnge announced $200M in financing capital for expansion. The pricing of this deal wasn’t mentioned, but I’d guess they still have a chunk of that left to spend.
