Vantage Data Centers has announced plans to enter the northern Virginia data center market. The company has acquired 42 acres in Ashburn, and is planning to build out a 5-building campus.
When complete, Vantage’s new data center campus would span over 1 million square feet and 108MW of power. The first of those will be 24MW of that power, and construction will begin early in 2018. The location is near the corner of Waxpool and Route 28, in close proximity to the rest of data center alley and its nearby interconnection nexuses.
This is Vantage’s first move off of the west coast, where it operates five data centers in Silicon Valley and Quincy, Washington. It’s also Vantage’s first big move since its acquisition by Digital Bridge in the spring of this year. Financial terms of the land purchase were not disclosed.
