UPN Reaches Into Fort Worth

October 26th, 2017 by · Leave a Comment

Unite Private Networks has some new Texas infrastructure planned in response to a new customer contract.  UPN is deploying a 4x100Gbps wavelength solution for one of the largest retailers in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.

The deployment will add 100 miles to the company’s metro network in the area, extending throughout Fort Worth and also hooking up the Peak 10 + ViaWest data center in Plano.  UPN first moved into the DFW metro area four years ago, and has been steadily adding depth. They pushed further out into Plano last year and and this past Spring into Allen.

The acquisition of a controlling stake in UPN by Cox last year hasn’t changed the company’s approach to its Midwestern markets too much.  If Cox has gotten what it wanted out of the deal, I wonder when they’ll go back on the acquisition trail for complementary metro and regional assets.
