A new data center, a new certification, and some new PoPs.

Equinix has opened its 12th data center in the Wasghington DC metro area. At a cost of $98.5M, the first phase of DC12 adds 1,500 cabinets and some 57,800 gross square feet of space. The Ashburn facility is Equinix’s 14th IBX in the region, and they still have 34.5 acres spread across four properties for additional expansion.

NTT says that its Hong Kong Financial Data Center Tower 2 has gained LEEDS-CS 2009 Platinum level certification, and is the fist data center in China to gain that green certification. The facility combines a variety of energy efficient technologies to achieve an annualized PUE of below 1.5.

And RETN has deployed two new nodes on its network. The pan-European carrier has added PoPs in Interxion data centers in both Madrid and Marseille, adding to its reach in southern Europe. Juniper gear is powering the deployment, which also interconnects to the company’s presence in Paris and Milan.
