FirstLight Fiber has made another consolidation move up in the northeastern region. The Albany-based fiber infrastructure provider has announced its intent to acquire Finger Lakes Technologies Group.
FLTG operates 2,500 route miles of fiber in upstate New York and reaching down into northern Pennsylvania. As you might expect from the name, the main network depth is in and around the Finger Lakes region between Binghamton, Syracuse, and Rochester.
Capital, Backed by its parent Oak Hill Capital Partners, FirstLight has been rolling up regional networks from Buffalo to Bangor over the last several years. Indeed FLTG’s footprint is very complementary to that of Sovernet’s ION network, which FirstLight and its backers have been in the process of acquiring in parallel with its recently closed purchase of Oxford Networks.
Financial details were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to close sometime in the third quarter of this year.
