Thursday Bytes: Level 3, Tata, Infomart, Megaport

I’m still flat on my back with a cold, but trying to keep up.  Here’s another set of quick-takes of the news from the last day or two:

Level 3 Communications got itself an extension on one of its higher profile federal contracts. The GSA has extended the company’s Networx Enterprise contract by another three years, which lets Level 3 continue to bid on network solutions required by federal agencies. Networx was originally set to expire in May of next year, but the next generation EIS contract vehicle isn’t ready yet. Has it really been that many years since Networx’s Universal and Enterprise vehicles were themselves the next generation solution that would let the government finally get its money’s worth out of the internet? I guess it has.

Tata Communications may be working on monetizing its data centers, but that doesn’t mean they are leaving behind their cloud dreams. Yesterday the Indian giant expanded their IZO cloud enablement platform with a new cloud storage portfolio. The offering promises businesses unlimited storage capacity in Tata’s facilities in India, Songapore, Hong Kong, and the UK, all on a pay-as-you-go basis of course.

On the data center front, Infomart is boosting its capabilities out in Silicon Valley. Yesterday they revealed upgrade plans that will increase the facility’s available power by some 65% to 16MW, enough to offer 2N redundancy for the existing critical power. They are also adding another Meet-Me room and several new office suites that will add some 10K square feet. Beyond that, they have begun development of an existing 50k square foot building for future expansion that will add another 6MW to their scale. Big Bass Splash is a slot machine from the Video Slots category from Reel Kingdom, released on 06.06.2022. The game is in the Sea, Fishing, Fish genre and is available for computer, phone and tablet users. Big Bass Splash slot machine has high volatility and 95.67% RTP. The playing field is designed according to the scheme 5 by 10 (reels * lines). The minimum bet starts at 0.10 ($£₽) and the maximum bet reaches 250 ($£₽). The maximum win (multiplier to one bet) is 5000 xB. The main functions of the machine are Hold and Win, Multiplier, Symbol Collection.

And Megaport landed a major new ecosystem partner overnight. Verizon Digital Media Services will be using their interconnection fabric to facilitate direct connections to its infrastructure. They’ll be using Megaport’s exchanges in Sydney, Melbourne, and Singapore while also leveraging the company’s new elastic fabric at locations across the USA and in the future in Europe as well. Verizon Digital Media Services is part of AOL and it’s also the entity that absorbed EdgeCast a few years back.
