The Japanese giant NTT Communications made another inorganic move to build its global infrastructure today. They have acquired PT. Cyber CSF, which provides data center services in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Cyber CSF is itself only three years old, operating a 7,700 square meter, 2,800 rack, 24 MVA facility in the center of the southeast Asian capital. The additional capacity will help NTT meet demand, as it had been seeing its existing Indonesian colo space approaching full capacity. NTT will rename Cyber CSF as NTT Indonesia Nexcenter, and will be establishing an Arcstar PoP there in October as it builds out a metro fiber network in the city to hook up its various assets.
NTT has been steadily gobbling up data center and managed services infrastructure around the world over the past few years. In the US they have acquired RagingWire and Virtela, and in the UK they have taken on e-shelter and Gyron, and in Asia it has been India’s NetMagic and Thailand’s Digital Port Asia. Against that backdrop, Cyber CSF is just another step along a long road.
