Here are three interesting items from the colocation side of things, one acquisition, one customer win, and one equipment deployment:
TierPoint is making an inorganic move into Florida. The St.Louis-based colo provider announced the acquisition of CxP Data Centers in Jacksonville. CxP operates a hurricane-hardened 121,000 square foot facility there, of which 65,000 square feet is fully built out. The facility is new, having just opened in March of 2014 with a newly renovated NOC and some disaster-recovery space. TierPoint bought Xand last winter, and now operates in 14 markets.
Interxion has picked up a new customer in Ireland. The Irish analytics service provider Idiro Analytics has picked the Dutch-based colocation provider to host its datacenter services in Dublin. In terms of infrastructure, the Irish market has really been on the move lately. It’s been a roller coaster year for Interxion overall, with the Telecity deal first on and then pre-empted by Equinix.
CyrusOne is continuing its expansion in northern Virginia. They’re deploying more of BTI Systems’ metro cloud and DCI solutions at their new facility in Sterling. They’ve been using BTI’s gear in Texas as well of course, and I wonder if soon they’ll do the same thing with the Cervalis assets in New York.
