European fiber operator euNetworks says it has launched a new dc connect service in London. They’ve investing £8m in pre-deployed infrastructure in order to offer near-instant, scalable, fiber connectivity for enterprises.
euNetworks is looking to hook up enterprises directly to its extensive metro fiber in the city, expanding its potential market reach to a wider customer base. They’re offering to turn up service within 5 days to some 35 of London’s biggest data centers. That would include the facilities of Equinix, Interxion, Infinity, Virtus, Volta, Global Switch, iRack Networks and Telehouse, which covers quite a lot of ground of course.
The appetite for bandwidth in London is certainly big enough these days to justify what is, for euNetworks, a pretty big upfront capex outlay. London is euNetworks’ biggest individual market, but I wonder if they’ll be making similar moves over in Amsterdam and Frankfurt over the next year or two.
