tw telecom Starts to Fire Up Constellation For CoreSite

June 10th, 2013 by · Leave a Comment

Three months after unveiling their Constellation project for 2013, TW Telecom (NASDAQ:TWTC, news, filings) is preparing to fire it up, at least in prototype form. And along the way, they’ll be providing dynamic Ethernet connectivity to CoreSite’s Open Cloud Exchange.

The promise of instantaneous bandwidth probably has the biggest potential impact in the world of cloud computing, where everyone has been talking SDN for some time now. tw telecom is clearly focusing its efforts on that world, aiming to provide on-demand network building and scaling that can match the vision of the rest of the infrastructure.

For now it’s just a subset of the capabilities, but tw says it will demonstrate a prototype of is Constellation platform at Cloud Expo 2013 in New York. They will create a new network connection through a remote third party data center and into the database application service provider in real time, using joint API integration between the two companies.

Sounds simple, except for the real time thing of course.
