UK-based TelecityGroup expanded its colo footprint far to the southeast of its western European turf today with an acquisition. They’ve announced the purchase of Sadece Hosting in Istanbul, Turkey.
Sadece operates a 1MW data center with room to take that to 2MW, from which it offers colo, hosting, and related services to the Turkish market. Istanbul has been getting a lot of attention lately from global networks, as the city has begun to emerge as an internet hub straddling the internet fence between Europe and the Middle East just as it has done geographically for so long.
Telecity spent £25m in cash on the acquisition, with another £4M to be paid based on the achievement of certain financial objectives. Sadece’s CEO Selçuk Saraç will be staying on as managing director of Telecity’s Turkish operations.
