The US employment rate may still be struggling to find a way down, but in the world of fiber things still seem to be picking up – at least if the number of postings to the Ramblings’ Jobs Board are any measure. Last week brought yet another new posting, this time from AboveNet Communications.
AboveNet is looking for an Inside Sales Rep, responsible for prospecting within AboveNets metro fiber footprint and reporting to the Sales Manager. It’s in Mahwah, NJ – up in Bergen county along the NY state border. Rumors surrounding AboveNet’s potential sale have cooled off lately, as has its stock price over the month and a half since the rumors first broke – which seems to tell a similar story. But M&A or not, the company has been on a very solid growth trend for several years now.
This adds to other recent job postings: one by FPL Fibernet, one by 360Networks, and two by OCG. A healthy job market despite the wave of consolidation that has swept the fiber sector in the past 18 months can’t be anything other than a good sign…
